Two Terrifying Tales - Experience the spooky stories of Yomawari Night Alone and Yomawari Midnight Shadows in this creepy collection!

Unlock The Mystery - Search for hidden items, add them to your collection, and use them to interact with spirits or to unlock new story events.

Spiritual Interaction - In each chapter of the game, you will encounter spiritual creatures inspired by Japanese urban legends who lurk in the shadows – but are they harmless, purely evil, or simply misunderstood?

Stealth Action - Avoid evil spirits by tip-toeing or sprinting away, taking cover in a bush, or by using items to distract them. But be careful – some evil spirits may surprise you with their considerable speed.

Yomawari: Night Alone and it's sequel, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, were originally released on Steam and Playstation Vita. I didn't really know about them until I saw this collection of both games up for pre-order on the Switch, so I looked at videos and reviews on Steam. It had been a while since I'd played a Japanese horror game, like Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, so I was excited to give this a try.Pros:+ Two horror games included for the full Yomawari experience+ A myriad of scary and deadly spirits drawn from actual Japanese/Asian lore, each type reacts to you differently so you have to figure out how to get past them+ Story told from the perspective of the cute little protagonist as she tries to find her dog and sister+ Emphasis on exploring an entire little Japanese town at night, plus fast-travel at statues+ Puzzles to solve and items to collect all over town+ Runs smoothly on the Switch+ Creepy and atmospheric sound effects and music+ Game difficulty is balanced; it doesn't hold your hand, but it's not frustratingly difficult (three monsters took me a dozen tries to get past)+ Even if you don't get the collector's edition directly from NIS, you still get a mini art book inside the regular game caseCons:- It took a little time during my first play session to get used to the weird camera angles, then it was fine- The game doesn't necessarily tell you what certain usable items do, so you have to experiment and hope you can find more of that item when you run out- No achievements included like in the Steam version, but this really only matters for completionists like me- I had two instances where the loading screen from exiting the house didn't end, so I had to reset the game, but nothing bad happened to my save fileTips:* I recommend not saving by giving coins to the statues; quicksaves are not permanent saves like at your house, so if you die, just save at your house and use the statue to the right of your house fast-travel back to where you were* If you don't understand the ending, Google search "Yomawari ending" and you'll find an explanation on the Steam forums from someone who knows about Asian spirits, it made me appreciate the depth of the story even moreIf you like this game, also try:Death Mark (released the day after this game)DetentionSilent Hill seriesFatal Frame seriesThe Coma: Recut
